Child Support Guideline Commission

Purpose

To study and make recommendations on the child support guidelines to the Council of the District of Columbia. Annually review and update data on poverty levels used in multiple family determinations; review economic data and data on the functioning of the guideline; hold public hearings annually; formally review guideline; and vote on proposed changes not less than once every 4 years. Fourteen members and a chairperson: five members appointed by Mayor, one ex-officio member representing Corporation Counsel, one ex-officio member representing the Child Support Division of the Department of Human Services, three members of the DC Bar who are recognized experts in the fields of family law, appointed with advice and consent of the Council; five members appointed by the Chief Judge of the DC Superior Court; two members appointed by the Chairperson of the Committee on the Judiciary, two members appointed by the Chairperson of the Committee on Human Services.
