Education Licensure Commission

Purpose

To license private post-secondary educational institutions, both degree-granting and non-degree schools and their agents; ensure their authenticity and legitimacy, serve as state approving agency for veterans programs; advise on post-secondary educational and vocational needs in DC; and maintain student records of closed schools. Recommend policy, adopt standards, rules and regulations; grant licenses and conditional exemptions; issue quarterly reports, conduct inspections and on site evaluations; issue transcripts from student records for closed institutions; and comply with rules governing conflicts of interest. Members file personal financial disclosure statements.
