Elections, Board of

Purpose

To administer and enforce the provisions governing the DC election Act and the DC campaign finance reform Act. Conduct elections and certify results, register and inform voters, qualify candidates and measures for the ballot, and issue orders, rules and regulations. Members must file personal financial disclosure statements. Three members, no more than two of who shall be of the same political party, appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council. Members must be qualified electors in DC, resident in the District continuously for at least 3 years prior to appointment and may hold no other paid office or employment in the DC or federal governments. Members are barred from any kind of political activity during their term of office. The Mayor selects the chairperson.
