Funeral Directors, Board of

Purpose

To license and regulate funeral directors, apprentice funeral directors, and funeral service establishments. To evaluate applicants' qualifications and administer exams and recommend to the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council. Five members, who are District residents, appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council. Three funeral directors licensed in DC who have at least 3 years experience in funeral directing in the District, a consumer who may not be engaged either directly or indirectly in funeral directing, and the director of DHS or his designee. The Mayor selects the chairperson.
