Nursing Home Administration, Board of

Purpose

To regulate the practice of nursing home administration in DC; to advise the Mayor; to administer and enforce the Act. To evaluate applicants' qualifications and administer exams; recommend standards and procedures; issue licenses; receive and review complaints; request investigations; conduct hearings; issue subpoenas. Five DC residents, including a Chair, appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council: two licensed nursing home administrators, 1 teacher of nursing home administration, one licensed physician or osteopath, who has a demonstrated interest in long term care, and one consumer. Professional members must have been engaged in practice for at least 3 years preceding appointment. The consumer member must be at least 18 years old, not be a health professional or in training to become one, may have no household health professional or be in training to become one, and may have no household member who is involved directly or indirectly in providing health care.
