Real Property Tax Appeals Commission (RPTAC)
Purpose
To review real property assessment appeals. To sit in panels of three members to hear and make decisions on appeals from taxpayers. Members must file personal financial disclosure statements. Eighteen DC residents appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council. Members shall be persons having knowledge of the valuation of property, real estate transactions, building costs, accounting, finance, and/or statistics. The Mayor names one member as chairperson.
