Occupational Safety and Health Board

To develop and recommend to the Mayor standards pertaining to occupational safety and health issues. To hold hearings, make decisions on temporary and permanent variances, abatement periods, penalties and license revocations, advise the director of DOES; adopt rules. Members must file personal financial disclosure statements. Seven DC residents, appointed by the Mayor, representing the working age population of the District in terms of race, ethnic origin, and sex. The Mayor designates a chairperson, there should be two members each from the private sector representing management and labor and 1 member each from the public sector representing labor and management.

Occupational Therapy
Graphelia Ramseur, 442-9200

To regulate occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants in DC and advise the Mayor. To evaluate applicants' qualifications; recommend standards and procedures; issue licenses; receive and review complaints; request investigations; conduct hearings; issue subpoenas; examine witnesses and administer oaths; issue an annual report. Members must file personal financial disclosure statements. Five DC residents, including a chair, appointed by the Mayor: three licensed occupational therapists, one occupational therapist, and one occupational therapy assistant, all of whom must have been engaged in practice for at least 3 years preceding appointment, and one consumer, who must be at least 18 years old, not be a health professional or in training to become one, and may have no household member who is involved in providing health care.

Optometry Board

To regulate the practice of optometry in DC; advise the Mayor; administer and enforce the Act. To evaluate applicants' qualifications and administer exams; recommend standards and procedures; issue licenses; receive and review complaints; request investigations; conduct hearings; issue subpoenas, examine witnesses and administer oaths; issue and annual report. Members file financial disclosure statements. Five DC residents, including the chairperson, appointed by the Mayor: four optometrists, who have been engaged in practice for at least 3 years, and one consumer, who is at least 18 years old, not a health professional or in training to become one, and may have no household member involved in providing health care.
