Apply for a Board or Commission Appointment

  1. When your application is received by the Office of Boards and Commissions, you will receive a written acknowledgement.
  2. The Office of Boards and Commissions creates a database file with other candidates for the same board or commission preferences. Any additional correspondence we receive from you or on your behalf is also maintained in your database file. If we need more information, we will contact you.
  3. When it is time for the Mayor to make an appointment to the board, the Office of Boards and Commissions staff provides the Mayor with geographic, diversity and gender composition, as well as statutory limitation of the board. We also provide information on professional or personal experience either necessary or preferable to a board's function. The Mayor reviews this information as well as a summary of any recommendations received on each applicant, and makes his selection. Candidates may be notified of the Mayor's decision by telephone, first class mail or electronic mail.
  4. After an appointment process for a board is completed, all resumes are maintained in a database file for successive considerations.
