Dentistry, Board of Maulid Miskell, 442-9200
To regulate dentistry and dental hygiene in DC, to advise the Mayor, and to administer and enforce the Act. Evaluate qualifications; administer exams; recommend standards and procedures; issue licenses; receive and review complaints; request investigations; conduct hearings; and issue an annual report. Members must file personal financial disclosure statements. Seven DC residents appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council; one licensed dentist, one licensed dental hygienist and one consumer professional member, must have been in practice for at least 3 years preceding appointment. The consumer member must be at least 18 years old, not be a health professional or in training to become one and may have no household member who is involved directly or indirectly in providing health care. The Mayor appoints the chairperson.
Development Disabilities Planning Council Mary Brown, 279-6085
To advocate for persons with developmental disabilities, advise the Mayor and DHS on the needs of such persons in DC. Advise on issues and recommend studies; develop a State Plan with DHS and monitor its implementation; review and comment on projects, legislation, budgets and other state plans; promote public awareness and advise on public concerns, submit with DHS periodic reports to DHS-1 advise on grants; comply with conflict of interest provisions. Members file financial disclosure statements. At least 25 members, including a chairperson, appointed by the Mayor. At least 1/2 of members must be consumers who are developmentally disabled persons, their parents, relatives or guardians. Of these, at least 1/3 must be relatives or guardians of persons with mentally impairing developmental disabilities and one of an institutionalized or previously institutionalized person. The voting members also include private sector providers and government members. Non-government members must be DC residents.

To regulate dietetics and nutrition in DC and to advise the Mayor. Evaluate applicants' qualifications, recommend standards and procedures, issue licenses, receive and review complaints, request investigations, conduct hearings, and issue annual report. Members must file personal financial disclosure statements. Three members, who must be DC residents throughout their service, appointed by the Mayor: one dietitian and one nutritionist, who are eligible for licensure in DC and who have been engaged in practice for at least 3 years preceding appointment and one consumer, who must be at least 18 years old, not be a health professional or in training to become one and may have no household member who is involved directly or indirectly in providing health care. The Mayor appoints one member as chairperson. |
