Apprenticeship Council
Purpose
To assist in formulating apprenticeship policy for the District of Columbia. Establish rules and regulations, issue certificates; approves standards for apprenticeship programs; approve joint trade committees; formulate apprenticeship policies; hold hearings, de-register apprenticeship programs not in compliance. Eleven members: nine members are appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council, including three employee representatives, three employer representatives and three public members and the Mayor and Superintendent of Public Schools or their designees. The Mayor appoints the chairperson.
