Mayor Gray to Swear in Business Regulatory Reform Task Force

WHAT/WHO:
Mayor Vincent C. Gray will swear in members of the new Business Regulatory Reform Task Force at DC Brau Brewing Company, located in Ward 5 tomorrow. He will be accompanied by Department of Small and Local Business Development Director Harold Pettigrew, Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs Director Nick Majett, DC Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Barbara Lang, Greater Washington Board of Trade President & CEO Jim Dinegar and representatives of DC Brau.

BACKGROUND:
As part of his State of the District Address this week and dovetailing with his Five-Year Economic Development Strategy, Mayor Gray announced that he would establish a Business Regulatory Reform Task Force charged with scouring the District’s rules and regulations and providing recommendations on how to make the District an easier place to start and grow a business and create jobs. The Task Force is composed of 19 voting members, nine voting ex officio members and four non-voting members. The Director of the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs will serve as co-chairperson of the task force, and the panel’s other co-chairperson will be appointed by the Mayor and drawn from the voting members.
